Despite the wet start to the day, this year’s fair started in style with the opening parade performed by the village children, teachers, parents and Morris dancers. A variety of activities and stalls provided all day entertainment with new activities such as Crazy Golf and the Bungee Run proving popular and some returning old favourites, like the Kinder Falconry and the afternoon performances of the Waltham Scottish Dancers and local singing group “Ain’t What You Do” bringing some cheer under the grey clouds. The Brewsters’ beer tent was as busy as ever, as were the cake stall, bbq and pancakes by the scouts. Festivities continued into the evening with the well-attended kids disco followed by the Venture Scouts family quiz. The evening was brought to a close by a great performance by local band Mantiss.
We are pleased to confirm that despite the weather, we made a fantastic profit of just over £2400. We are donating back £1600 of this to the local groups that supported us and retaining the rest to invest into future fairs. The agreed donations were:
- Friends of Waltham School – £700
- Waltham Church – £450
- Waltham Beavers, Cubs & Scouts – £200
- Waltham Pre-school – £50
- Morris Dancers – £50
- Waltham Local History Group – £50
- Waltham Scottish Dancers – £50
- “Ain’t What You Do” Waltham Singing Group – £50
Thank you to everyone who came and supported this year’s Waltham Charter Fair. We hope you all had as great a day as we did and we couldn’t have done it without everyone’s support.
